A man and a snake

“Democrats should learn from Trump” beams the headline of Daniel McCarthy’s column in the Nov. 15 Sun-Gazette. Yes, as someone once stated, “Never underestimate the value of a bad example”. I object to his statement that no matter what Republican won, the Democrats would call him a “fascist.” I don’t recall that happening in non- Trump campaigns. If the jackboot fits, wear it!

I am reminded of the story of a man climbing a steep arduous mountain. He encountered a rattlesnake part way up and the snake asked the man if he would carry him to the top. “You are a poisonous snake,” the man stated. The snake assured the man that if he helped him, he wouldn’t bite. The man carried him to the top where the snake promptly bit him. As he lay dying, he lamented, “You said you wouldn’t bite me.” The snake replied, “You knew what I was when you picked me up!”

Perhaps the man could get a snake-bite kit. Whoops, no; Robert Kennedy doesn’t believe in them!
