Overwhelming failure
Verna Caruso, former Chair of the Lycoming County Democratic Committee, wrote an opinion column, on Nov. 14, 2024, in this paper. The column was titled “Why Donald Trump Won the Presidency”. Here are some direct quotes that she wrote:
1. “People nowadays, even though they have access to all the knowledge in the world at their fingertips, are too lazy to seek out the truth”.
2. “The average person doesn’t even listen to the news let alone think about what is going on in the world”.
3. “If all these people had not voted against their own best interests, the outcome of the 2024 election would have been very different”.
4. “It’s not the fault of the Harris campaign or the Democratic party that they didn’t do this or that”.
5. “The fault lies on the other end of the spectrum – with the voters. They just didn’t get it”.
I am not going to argue with these statements, but I did find it interesting that a former democratic leader would put them in writing for all to see. However, she is entitled to her opinion. My opinion though, is that until the Democratic party gets rid of this blaming mentality and starts listening to the majority of voters (who are far from dumb or uneducated to the issues), they will fail overwhelmingly.
