Predictions
Kamala Harris may well have made a mistake by not choosing Josh Shapiro for her VP running mate. Despite that, I predict that, with the help of Shapiro, Kamala will “win” Pennsylvania’s 19 electoral votes on November 5.
My thoughts go back to the 2020 election when Covid blessed the Democrats with the opportunity to make several changes concerning the voting protocol. Shapiro, who was state Attorney General at the time, quite suavely on a TV ad assured the voters that their vote would be counted. I also remember reading about the story in November of 1960 when Joe Kennedy phoned Chicago Mayor Daly on election night to ask him to do what he could to swing Illinois to his son John F. Kennedy in order to put him over the top to win the presidential election.
When much younger, I wanted to trust everybody, but nowadays I’ve seen how some people get by with an awful lot by being real smooth and super nice. In my judgement, Josh Shapiro is such a guy. I’d bet he could charm the fangs out of a cobra’s mouth.
A few weeks ago, the Sun-Gazette published an interesting editorial by Nathen Benefield of the Commonwealth Foundation which really nailed it with Shapiro. To sum it up, Benefield described Shapiro’s extreme self-absorption and how, in reality, he has accomplished very little if anything as governor, despite his supposed popularity. Personally, I think the man is as crooked as a cocker spaniel’s hind leg.
In conversations with several people who are deeply involved in state politics, I’ve been told the election process in this state is very corrupt.
I have a strong hunch that Shapiro will pull a “Mayor Daly” and pull some strings to swing PA for Harris, and do the same in the senate race for Bob Casey, who I think has been as worthless as mammaries on a male moose for the citizens of PA.
I hope and pray I am wrong on these predictions.
