Who says Representative Everett is the one that 'put it out there". He's a pretty smart guy, and I can't imagine he would call the paper and ask them to run a story like that, but then again, I didn't read the story. It seems a lot more plausible to me that he told someone about it, and they ran to the paper, or something similar.

I have been rather harsh in my criticism here for Mr. Everett. And, while I understand what he was doing, I believe a less public approach would have been the way to go. Helping your friend is one thing, putting it out there for the world is another. That said, it's time to let it go people, I believe Mr. Everett understands his mistake and may actually be paying a price for it. There are other, more pressing matters that need our attention.

Doesn't happen often but I agree with Hayes on this one. Much more important things to worry about that somebody helping a friend, especially when it's a friend paying the price of a big mistake.

CHayes, while I normally do not agree with what you say, you are absolutely right on this one. Sad when our counrty is going to pot and all these people care about is someone helping out a friend.

The scariest thing to me is, with all the stuff going on in the world, that people would get so bent out of shape over how Rep Everett wants to spend a small amount of his PERSONAL money.

This morning news is out that AIG, may sue the federal govt, because the terms of the $182 BILLION bailout they received "wasn't generous enough." Yet the letter writer is concerned because a state Rep wants to donate a couple personal bucks to a coworker that's in jail? Are you kidding me?
