why doesn't the school board and school officials have blame? It always seems nobody is an "owner" 3.5 million is HUGE. And how is it they can over spend to begin with? What kind of leadership allows that? Oh, wait a minute, its now typical.

"I left Avis in 1999 and moved to South Williamsport mostly because of the incompetent school board there."

Did you move from Avis because of the incompetent school board there, or did you move to S.Williamsport because of their incompetent school board? Sorry, I know this is goofy...but so is the school board, and the situation, and any hope of it getting better...EVER!

Privatize all schools, get real people to teach, do away with teaching certificates, take back local control of wages, combine districts with one Superintendent and get rid of school boards (or start paying them).

Maybe Erik needs to become a politician? When you get the real handle on a school budget, check yourself out of your seat fast sir. The Steeler is the union and you can witness that power at JS board meetings.

For the most part I agree Erik. The fault can be spread around however. Salaries and benefits, I believe, make up the majority of the school budget. As salaries climb and enrollment shrinks, it creates havoc on the budget.

I left Avis in 1999 and moved to South Williamsport mostly because of the incompetent school board there.

The fault lies with the school board.

Some districts do not have deficits and yet they function well.

It is time to stop accepting poor leadership from elected officials (of all parties) and bring in new blood!

If the new blood is not responsible, replace them. Keep going until the message is received.
