Robert R. "Bob" Long, 77, of 721 Weldon St., Montoursville, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at his residence. He was born April 24, 1935, in Danville, a son of Raymond and Alma Share Long.
Bob retired from the former Schnadig Corp. in Montoursville after 44 years of service. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Montoursville, and was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Eugene Grafius American Legion Post 104 in Montoursville, the Dry Run Landing Camp Hunting Club and the Rolling Rock Hunting Club. He was a "Mr. Fix It," loved hunting, fishing and was an avid reader, especially Westerns.
Bob is survived by his wife, the former Sandra L. Long, with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage; his children, Ward R. (Tammy) Long of South Williamsport, Timothy L. Long and Sally Jo (Marc) Lomison, both of Montoursville; a sister, Evelyn L. Miller of South Williamsport; brother, Thomas E. (Ann) Long of Montoursville; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 369 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. David B. Letscher officiating. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Montoursville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church.
