The state basketball championship games this past weekend didn't include the District 4 boys basketball teams from Williamsport, Loyalsock, St. John Neumann and Sullivan County.
But that doesn't detract from the impact the four teams made on the area this past month and, frankly, for the past several months.
Each of the teams had storybook seasons that took them deep into the state playoff madness.
And the beauty of sports at the high school level in an area with cities and municipalities of our size is that our teams can bring their communities together.
Residents and alums of the schools go on that wild ride with high school teams in this area. The teams bring communities closer under a common cause and, this year, teams and communities in our area were particularly vocal rooting for each other.
So congratulations are due to these teams.
They put community pride on the front burner with the way they competed and won and also with the strong way they carried themselves in defeat.
