Paul F. Peterson, 97, of Williamsport, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Williamsport Home. He was the husband of the late Mary (Pratt) Peterson. Previously, they resided in Marsh Hill.
Born Aug. 25, 1915, in Arnot, Pa., he was a son of John E. and Hilda Johnson Peterson.
Paul was a 1933 graduate of Williamsport High School and was an Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II where he retained the rank of tech sergeant and earned a bronze star medal, a European Africa Middle Service Medal with two bronze service stars and a good conduct medal. He enjoyed playing baseball for the Williamsport inner-city leagues. He worked for Cromar Flooring for many years. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed golfing, gardening, and writing in his daily journal. Paul was a devoted Christian and a member of Heshbon Park United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda J. Heitsenrether (Jack) of Williamsport; two grandchildren, Jodie L. Heitsenrether of Ann Arbor, Mich. and John P. Heitsenrether of Williamsport and a sister, Leona Miller of Williamsport.
He was preceded in death by eight siblings, Ralph, Gordon, Harold, Arnold, and Earl Peterson, Dorothy Bloom, Dolly Burr, and Nina Blanchard.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., July 10, 2013, at Heshbon Park United Methodist Church, 2898 Heshbon Road, Williamsport, with the Rev. Dr. David A. Keller officiating.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation and burial will be private in the Swedish Cemetery, Arnot.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Heshbon Park United Methodist church.
