A local woman faces felony drug charges after allegedly selling prescription pain killers to a confidential informant, police say.
Penny L. Shultz, 49, of the second floor of 618 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, has been charged with four felony counts for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and one for criminal use of a cellphone.
In August of 2012, Tiadaghton Valley police were informed that there was drug activity taking place at Shultz's residence and that the narcotics were allegedly being sold by Shultz herself.
On May 8 authorities interviewed a relative of Shultz, who confirmed that Shultz has "been in the business of selling narcotics," according to court records.
Later that same day, police met with a confidential informant who was asked to go purchase drugs from Shultz. The informant went to Shultz's apartment and returned about 15 minutes later with six hydrocodone pills wrapped in a clear cellophane cigarette pack wrapper, according to reports.
The informant was allegedly able to purchase more narcotics from Shultz on June 4. This time, the informant bought eight Percoset pills from Shultz at her residence, records state.
Shultz was scheduled to be committed to the Lycoming County Prison on June 20. She also failed to show up for her rescheduled commitment on July 5 and missed her preliminary hearing scheduled for the same day, when all charges were held over for court. She will face a court arraignment on Aug. 5, according to court records.
