A group of local residents has met for several months to plan activities and displays to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month, Sept. 15 through Oct. 15.
The planning committee is looking for more help to plan activities. Many of the committee members are Hispanic, representing a range of different countries. Food sampling tables will be set up at Towanda's First Friday on Oct. 4 and at the Fall Festival in Wyalusing on Oct. 12 to allow visitors to taste items made with some of the many Hispanic food ingredients, now available in local stores.
Displays are planned at several locations and a pinata making demonstration also is in the works. It is hoped that area high school Spanish classes may become involved. The Bradford County Regional Arts Council will host the Dali Quartet on Oct. 6 at the Sayre Theatre with a Latin dance workshop.
Anyone interested in joining this effort, contact Jude Rabago at 265-3113 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Funds are needed to help pay for frames, printing, posters, food and fees.
