Lycoming College art professor Lynn Estomin presented her work at several events this summer. She teaches commercial design and digital art at the college.
Her video, "Run, Jane Run," was featured at the fifth International Digital Storytelling Conference, Create, Act, Change, May 6 to 10, in Ankara, Turkey. Her film, "Out of Step," was shown during the Fasnet Short Film Festival in Schull, County Cork, Ireland, May 22 to 26.
In June, Estomin presented a talk on the Warrior Writers project and screened "Out of Step" and her newest video, "Warrior Writers," at the Antioch Writers Reunion and Conference at Antioch College, in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Estomin curated "Coming Home," a national exhibition of visual art by veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which opened at the Herndon Gallery in Yellow Springs, Ohio, in June. The gallery director projected two of Estomin's videos about veterans in the gallery along with the veterans' artwork, and Estomin gave a gallery talk at the opening reception.
In July, Estomin led a series of visual arts, photography and video workshops for veterans at Warrior Writers' Veterans and Community Conference in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
In August, Estomin's work was featured in "Looking Back: The Art of Nostalgia," juried by photography critic Mary Ann Lynch, at the PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vt. Lynch also chose Estomin's piece, "Runaway Shop#4," for publication in "Looking Back: The Art of Nostalgia." Estomin's work will be exhibited at the Vermont Center for Photography in Brattleboro, Vt., in September.
Estomin is a videographer, photographer and interactive media artist who creates art that speaks to social issues. Her award-winning video documentaries have been exhibited at film festivals internationally and broadcast nationally on PBS. Her photography and digital images have been exhibited nationally and internationally in solo and group exhibitions.
