Williamsport scored five runs in the seventh inning, and Shane Martin pitched five shutout innings as the Crosscutters closed out their season with a 6-3 win over Batavia on Wednesday.
With the win, Williamsport finished the season at 37-38, its second consecutive losing season.
Gustavo Martinez led the Cutters going 4 for 4, just his second three-hit game of the second and his first career four-hit game. Five players drove in at least one run, and Cory Bass drove in a pair with a double in the seventh inning.
Samuel Hiciano also drove in a run in the seventh inning with an RBI groundout, and Chad Carman drove in a run with a single. Martinez closed the five-run inning with an RBI single.
Martin closed out his second season with his second scoreless start in his final three outings. The right-hander out of Division II Southwestern Oklahoma State threw his final 15 innings of the season without allowing an earned run.
Manny Martinez threw two shutout innings of relief and Keivi Rojas allowed an unearned run in one inning.
