R. Grant Welshans, 73, of Rauchtown, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Susque-View Nursing Center in Lock Haven.
He was born Nov. 18, 1939, in Jersey Shore, a son of the late Kenneth P. and Leona E. (DeFrain) Welshans.
Grant was married to the former Margaret Irene Fox with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
He retired in 2002 from the Jersey Shore Steel Company after 38 and one half years of service.
He became a born again Christian in 1981 and was very active in the church from then on.
He was a long time NASCAR fan and enjoyed boating
Grant had a gentle spirit and a kind heart. He was a hard worker who could always be depended upon for lending a helping hand.
Surviving are his wife, Irene; a son, Timothy G. (Jessica) Welshans, of Loganton; three daughters, Brenda K. (Mark) Austin, of Salem, Ohio, Diane Marie (Lee) Karchner, of Mill Hall and Margaret L. (Jay Jr.) Martin, of Beech Creek; three sisters, Mary Lou Fiedler (John), of Avis, Minerva Fausey, of Salladasburg and Marcella Ann Smith (Ernie), of Rauchtown; 10 grandchildren, Clayton, Grant, Danielle, Julie, Alex, Sara, Caleb, Mariah, Aaron, and Evan; along with two great-grandchildren, Malia and Connor.
He was predeceased by a brother, Lloyd E. Welshans and a great-granddaughter, Josie Nicole Perry.
Relatives and friends are invited to Grant's Life Celebration beginning with a visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, from the St. James Lutheran Church, Rauchtown, with his Pastor Robert Mauer officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Loganton.
