LEWISBURG - The Evangelical Auxiliary held its annual spring luncheon recently.
The auxiliary holds various events throughout the year to raise funds for Evangelical Community Hospital programs including, Hospice, The Family Place, the Thyra M. Humphreys Center for Breast Health, and the Community Health and Wellness Center.
The luncheon celebrated the auxiliary's accomplishments and gave members the opportunity to learn how their funds have supported the hospital's growth and success. This year, the auxiliary presented the hospital with a check for $38,720 - another step toward their goal of raising $200,000 in five years.
The funds were raised through their main events - Night at the Cinema, the annual spring fashion show, Lights of Love, the holiday bazaar and the smaller candy, book, and bake sales.
Andrew Gibbons, associate vice president of the Evangelical Medical Services Organization spoke about continued recruitment of medical specialists and the expansion of employed physicians. The program also included a reflection by Kay Holdren, director of Evangelical Hospice, who shared pictures and memories of those who have helped build the Evangelical Hospice Program, which is celebrating 25 years of service to the surrounding communities in 2014.
Outgoing President, Sharon Pearce was honored for the work she did in guiding the Auxiliary efforts in 2013-2014. For 2014-2015, the Auxiliary will be led by Co-Presidents Sharon Pearce and Pat Powell. Sue Surgala will serve as Vice President.
