Ralph Jones likes jazz, golf and cutting hair.
Of those three passions, trimming hair is what he does to make money. His barber shop, tucked inside the basement of the Genetti Hotel, 200 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, opened in April.
"That's what I always wanted to do," he said.
Ralph Jones gives a customer a shave at his barbershop in the Genetti Hotel’s basement.
Being a barber, he explained, is all about interacting with people and "making them feel good about themselves."
Jones, a native of Newark, N.J., moved to Williamsport a number of years ago with his family.
Over the years, he's held a number of jobs.

He was in the U.S. Navy, worked as a caddy on the senior professional golf circuit, served in the Williamsport Area School District as a teacher's aide, and worked as a barber.
"I had my own shop in New Jersey," he said.
For a time, he also had a shop on Memorial Avenue in Williamsport.
He feels the downtown site for his business is a good one. The shop is outfitted with two barber chairs, but Jones uses just one for now. His customers, both male and female, have included hotel guests and walk-ins off the street.
Male customers can also come in for a shave, he added.
"People like that," he said.
Right now, he's running the shop himself, but he plans to bring on another person.
"I am going to hire a woman to do hair and nails," he said.
He also hopes to add a shoe stand to the business. Jones hasn't done a lot of advertising of his enterprise, but relies on a lot of word of mouth.
Hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
