Seven-run first dooms Cutters

Auburn scored seven runs in the first inning off of Williamsport starter Will Stewart leading to an 11-3 win over the Crosscutters to take the rubber match of the three-game series.

Stewart lasted just 2/3 of an inning, the shortest outing in his 17 career starts since being drafted by the Phillies in 2015. The left-hander surrendered five hits and seven runs in the 2/3 of an inning, with only five of the runs earned.

Connor Brogdon followed Stewart with four innings of shutout relief, allowing just one hit and striking out five for the Cutters. Williamsport got within 7-3, but Randy Alcantara allowed four runs in 2 1/3 relief innings.

Jhailyn Ortiz was 3 for 4 for Williamsport, doubling twice and driving in a run. Yahir Gurrola had a pair of hits and Luis Encarnacion drove in a run with a single.
