Lycoming’s Corl finishes 8th at NCAAs
CLEVELAND — Junior Trevor Corl finished the 2017-18 Lycoming College wrestling campaign on Saturday afternoon, as he finished eighth in the 149-pound weight class.
Corl, who earned All-American honors on Friday night, fell twice on Saturday. He lost to Wabash’s No. 8 seed Austin Bethel in 1:47 and Millikin’s No. 4 seed Bradan Birt in 1:32 to finish eighth.
Entering the tournament unseeded, Corl began with an 11-8 win over Birt on Friday morning. On Friday night, he dropped his quarterfinal match with No. 5 Alex Wilson of Augsburg, 5-2. He rebounded with a 6-1 win over Wis.-La Crosse’s Spencer Nevills to secure All-American honors.
Corl finished his junior year with a 35-6 record, as he became Lycoming’s third straight All-American at 149 pounds after Seth Lansberry ’17 finished fourth in both 2016 and 2017.
