Rain on Saturday forces a Cutters doubleheader today

Late afternoon rain throughout the area on Saturday forced the Crosscutter to postpone yesterday’s game with the West Virginia Black Bears to today where they will play a doubleheader at Bowman Field.

The first game will begin at 5:05 p.m. and both will be seven innings.

The Cutters are currently on a four-game skid, having last won on Monday in the final game of a three-game road series at Brooklyn.

Williamsport lost Friday’s game to West Virginia by seven runs, its second worst loss this season.

Following Sunday’s doubleheader, Williamsport will be off on Monday, then head to Vermont for a three-game series before returning to Bowman Field on Friday for a three-game home series against the Hudson Valley Renegades.

The Crosscutters are currently 12-21 and nine games out of first place in the Pinckney Division, and are in last place in the division. Mahoning Valley is in first with a 20-12 record. The Crosscutters’ 12 wins are the least amount in the entire New York-Penn League.

As a team, Williamsport’s offense has the fifth-best batting average in the NYPL with .253, behind only Auburn, Lowell, Mahoning Valley and Hudson Valley.
