Mansfield announces its 2019 sprint football schedule
MANSFIELD – Mansfield University sprint football has announced its 2019 schedule featuring seven regular season games including four home games at Karl Van Norman Field.
The Mountaineers are coming off the most successful season in the sprint football era after posting a 4-3 record in 2018. It marked the first winning season for Mansfield football since the 2003 team posted an 8-3 record.
The Mountaineers open the 2019 season on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Caldwell University in New Jersey.
Mansfield then begins a three-game home stand on Saturday, Sept. 21 when it hosts rival Chestnut Hill University for Military Appreciation Day followed bya game on Saturday, Sept. 28 against Saint Thomas Aquinas College.
Homecoming 2019 will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 when the Mountaineers take on CSFL newcomer Alderson Broaddus University. The Battlers are the fifth program to join the Collegiate Sprint Football League since Mansfield joined in 2008 and are the first team from West Virginia.
The Mounties will recognize the league-wide bye week on Oct. 12 before returning to action at Cornell University on Friday, Oct. 18. Mansfield hosts Post University in the home finale for senior day on Saturday, Oct. 26.
The Mountaineers conclude the regular season on Friday, Nov. 1 at Army West Point.
