Local roundup: Neumann’s Weller records 400th K

In high school softball, St. John Neumann’s Anne Weller recorded her 400th strikeout against Sugar Valley as the Golden Knights swept a doubleheader, 15-0 and 16-1, both in four innings Friday.

Maria Helminiak went 4 for 6 with four RBIs in the two games.

Madi Waltman threw a five-inning no-hitter with 13 strikeouts as Warrior Run defeated Towanda, 10-0.

It was Waltman’s fifth consecutive shutout. Marissa Pick and Kaelyn Watson each belted home runs as Warrior Run scored 10 runs in the final four innings.

Wellsboro fell twice in a double header on Friday, dropping a 5-4 contest to Wyalusing. Jena Boyce was 2 for 4 with three runs batted in and three runs scored against Wyalusing.

Lynna Robertson threw a four-hit complete game and Katie Meale went 3 for 3 with a double and two runs as Williamsport completed an undefeated Central Penn League season, winning 3-1 at St. Mary’s.

Mariah Wright hit a double and drove in two runs while Kalindi Maggs added an RBI single. Kylie Segraves produced a hit and a run and Robertson won her 12th game. The Millionaires are the No. 2 seed in the District 2 Class 6A playoffs and will host No. 3 Delaware Valley Tuesday at Elm Park.

• Williamsport won for the third time in its final at-bat as it scored an eighth-inning run and defeated Shikellamy, 4-3, in its regular-season finale in high school baseball. The Millionaires (15-4) won for the 11th time in 12 games and clinched a District 2-4 Class 6A semifinal home game against Delaware Valley next week.

Dallas Griess went 2 for 4 with an RBI and the Millionaires exceeded their win total from a year ago when they reached the state quarterfinals.

Coty Steele allowed just one run through seven innings of work, while going 4 for 4 with a homer to lead Muncy to a 6-1 victory over CMVT.

Jacob Corson homered and Devin Swank and Chance Webb each drove in a pair of runs to lead Hughesville past Selinsgrove, 5-3.

Wellsboro pounded out 16 hits, led by Carson Davis who went 4 for 4 with three RBIs and a homer, as the Hornets won a 17-3 rout over Wyalusing.

It took three weeks and 11 innings, but Montoursville capped its HAC-II season with a dramatic 4-3 win against Lewisburg. The game had been suspended three weeks ago after it was tied 3-3 following 10 innings. When play resumed Friday at Giles Field, Logan Ott stranded a runner on first in the top of the 11th. Gabe Phillips and Caiden Lewis singled in the bottom of the 11th and Dylan Bower’s hard-hit grounder was misplayed, bringing in Phillips with the winning run.

Dylan Moll went 2 for 5 with two RBIs and Ott had a double and RBI. Lewisburg finished its regular season 9-11 but is ahead of Shamokin (11-9) in the District 4 Class AAAA power rankings. If that holds following tomorrow’s last regular-season games, Lewisburg would qualify for districts.
