Local roundup: Clinton tops East Lyco in major softball game

Clinton’s Jacey Tripp threw a complete game and limited East Lycoming to just three hits as Clinton won, 12-6, in the major softball tournament.

With the win, Clinton advances to play South Williamsport in the winners’ bracket final Sunday at South Williamsport at 2 p.m.

Taleia Kitner led Clinton with a 3 for 3 performance and had a triple and scored twice. Jacey Tripp went 3 for 4, Rylan Andrews was 2 for 4 with a double and Sophie Mitchell went 2 for 4 with a triple. Ava Doyle also hit a triple.

East Lycoming was led by Loralie Bennett, who went 1 for 3 with an RBI.

• The Williamsport major softball team’s district run came to an end with a 20-11 loss to Montoursville in the losers’ bracket Friday.

Montoursville will play East Lycoming in an elimination game Sunday at 2 p.m. at East Lycoming.
