Pitching powers West End 13U to District title

West End defeated Mifflin County, 4-1, in the 13U district championship on Sunday as Tyler Gee threw a complete game, surrendering just four hits and allowing one run. Makai Day and Cole Schuler each had two hits and Kaiden Rodarmel drove in two runs.

Over the course of the district tournament, West End pitchers (Makai Day, Eli Olshefskie, Tyler Gee) combined to throw 16 2/3 innings while allowing just two earned runs. The trio had 20 strikeouts, eight walks and gave up just seven hits.

West End advances to the state tournament where they play a team to be announced in Milroy, PA, on Thursday.

• Post 1 Williamsport defeated Sunbury in a 13-3, 5 inning game on Sunday in the first round of the Junior Legion playoffs. McDowell went 2-4 and scored twice and got the win as the starting pitcher for Post 1. Schuler went 2-2 with a double and two runs scored and Smith went 2-3 with a run scored.
