Batavia gets off to fast start in rout of Cutters

The Batavia Muckdogs put up five runs in the first inning and added four more in the fifth inning to defeat the Williamsport Crosscutters, 10-0, on Monday night and halt a two-game win streak.

Batavia (38-31) belted 12 hits, 11 of which were singles and the other was a double.

Williamsport starter Chris Micheles gave up all five runs in the first, while getting just one out. He allowed five hits and walked two in his 33 pitches worth of work.

Anton Kuznetsov came on in relief and threw 2 2/3 innings of perfect ball before giving way to Adam Leverett, who gave up four more runs in the fifth. He threw 1 2/3 innings and allowed four hits and three walks.

Jake Kinney pitched the final 3 1/3 innings, giving up three hits and a run.

Rudy Rott led the five-hit Williamsport offense with a 2-4 effort.

The Crosscutters left nine runners on base and were 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position.

Williamsport remains in Batavia one more day before returning home for a three-game series against Auburn.
