South major softball to be recognized at LLWS
The celebration of the South Little League softball team will continue long after the final out of their final game at the Little League Softball World Series, as the team’s achievements will be recognized at the Little League World Series in their hometown of South Williamsport.
“Every year, communities around the world have the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of welcoming their World Series team home after their journey through the Little League International Tournament, and we are proud to be able to share in that experience with the South Little League softball team,” said Stephen D. Keener, Little League President and CEO. “We know the experience that the girls on all 10 of the participating teams had in Portland will be remembered for a lifetime. We are looking forward being a part of that celebration here in the home of Little League for our own hometown team.”
To honor the team, on Monday, August 19, Little League will recognize the team at the Little League World Series with an on-field ceremony and ceremonial first-pitch prior to the 8 p.m. game. The members of the South Little League World Series team will also be invited, along with other local Little Leaguers, to attend the MLB Little League Classic on Sunday, August 18, at Bowman Field.
