ROUNDUP: Bhangdia leads Lewisburg to win

Anthony Bhangdia scored a trio of goals and Anton Permyashkin added two as Lewisburg cruised to a 6-0 win over Central Columbia in boys high school soccer Tuesday. Ben Liscum added the sixth goal for the Green Dragons, and Tony Burns made one save for the shutout.

Brady Dowell scored twice, including the game-clincher, and Connor Albaugh and Alex Heiser each posted a goal and an assist as Loyalsock defeated Benton, 4-2.

Muncy fell to Millville, 5-0. Todd Modispaw recorded 10 saves in the loss.

Seth Yoder scored his first varsity goal, a game-winner in the 65th minute, to lift Milton to an impressive 3-2 win over Warrior Run. Carter Lilley and Tyler Hendershot each scored for Milton and Colton Loreman made 12 saves. Alex Hazzoum tallied both of Warrior Run’s goals.

Colin Gorini scored twice and added two assists and Angelo Silvagni notched two scores as Montoursville defeated Shamokin, 5-0.

• Muncy fell to Millville, 3-1, in girls soccer. Autumn Harris assisted on Cierra Charles’ goal in the 32nd minute.

• Loyalsock defeated Bloomsburg, 3-2. Katie Savidge won easily at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Melina Vuocolo and Abbie Machmer also won at No. 2 and 3 singles, respectively, before Bloomsburg swept the doubles competition.

Olivia Dorner shut out Lydia Barbour, 6-0, 6-0, as South Williamsport downed Montoursville, 3-2. Lily Summerson and Lauren Peck won at No 2 and 3 singles, respectively.

Cowanesque Valley defeated Wellsboro, 4-3. Megan Wattles won in three sets at No. 1 singles and Kait Streeter beat Rileigh Gerges in a marathon match (3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4) at No. 4 singles.

• The Lewisburg boys cross country team remained undefeated with wins over Milton, Hughesville and Selinsgrove. Jacob Hess won the race in 16 minutes, 41 seconds for the top spot. Tanner Walter came in second for Milton and Hunter Foust was third for Hughesville. Peter Lantz, Calvin Bailey and Evan Hart and Ginaluca finished fourth through eighth, separated by Hughesville’s Ryan Bahr in sixth place.

Warrior Run, Williamsport and Midd-West competed at Southern Columbia with the Millionaires’ Henry Lyon winning the race in 16:24. Lyon and Owen Mahon went first and second with Caden Dufrene right behind (17:12).

Sullivan County hosted Troy and Wyalusing in a home meet. Wyalusing’s Alex Payton, Zion Laudermilch and Kemuel Wildermilch each crossed the line as the top finishers in 18:34. Ethan Walker (21:16), Chris Walsh and Herm Harney rounded out the top eight for Sullivan County’s top finishers.

• The Lewisburg Green Dragons remained undefeated (13-0) with wins over Milton, Hughesville and Selinsgrove. The Green Dragons placed six of the first nine places, including Hannah Mirshahi’s first-place finish just ahead of Milton’s Leah Walter. Delaney Humphrey and Olivia Beattie were third and fourth as Samantha Wakeman, Grace Evans and Anna Batkowski placed sixth, eighth and ninth, respectively.

Warrior Run and Williamsport were back-and-forth in the race with Midd-West and Southern Columbia, claiming the top nine spots. Warrior Run was led by first-place finisher Lauren Trapani (18:06), and saw four more girls cross the line before Midd-West’s Lydia Bowersox in 10th place. Lydia Smith was Williamsport’s top runner in a time of 19:34.

Sullivan County hosted Troy and Wyalusing. Sophia Springman was the top finisher for the Griffins with an eighth place finish in 24:23. Carina Beebe was the top finisher overall in 22:53 for Wyalusing.

• Galeton fell, 3-2, to Cameron County in girls high school volleyball. Cara Parsell led the Tigers with 14 digs, two aces and a kill. Kate Kulish dished out 10 assists and Alexis Johnson had nine aces.

North Penn Liberty swept Wellsboro, 3-0 (25-20, 25-8, 25-21), to remain undefeated. Ali Koval had 18 points and 30 digs, Maddie Minyo had 17 kills and 18 digs, Grace Tice had seven blocks and six kills, Charisma Grega had 21 digs and seven kills and JoAnne McNamara had 12 points and 18 assists. Caitlyn Callahan led Wellsboro with four kills and an ace. Bailey Monks had three kills, three assists and two aces.

• Lewisburg beat Selinsgrove, 2-1, in high school field hockey. Rylee Dyroff scored on an assist from Kara Koch in the 21st minute and Gaby Markunas scored the game winner in the second half.

• A host of area graduates helped Lycoming shut out Misericordia, 9-0, in men’s tennis to earn its first victory of the season. Wellsboro and Milton grads Nate Redell and Cody Greenaway won at No 1 doubles, 8-6. South Williamsport and Montoursville grads, Frank Summerson and Casey Hass won, 8-2. Greenaway 6-0, 4-6 (10-8), Summerson (6-4, 6-1) and Hass (6-4, 6-1) each won in their respective singles matches.

• Hannah Summerson won her singles and doubles matches, but Lycoming fell to Misericordia, 7-2, in women’s tennis. Summerson and Aubrey Chambers won the last five games of their match at No. 1 doubles to defeat Hannah Bonk and Allie Woodward, 8-4.

The pair of wins leaves Summerson one win shy of the school’s career combined wins mark of 86 set by Cricket Temple (1999-02), as the senior has posted a 41-26 record in doubles play and a 44-23 record in singles to give her 85 wins.
