ROUNDUP: CV’s Outman tied for 7th at PIAA golf

Cowanesque Valley’s Austin Outman put himself in position to medal at the PIAA Golf Championships on Monday when he shot a 6-over par 77 to land in a tie for seventh place in the Class AA tournament at Heritage Hills in York.

Outman is just five shots behind leaders Cam Colbert of Hickory and Elijah Ruppert of Brandywine Heights, who each shot a 1-over 72. Outman shot 2-over on the front nine but struggled on the back side shooting a 4-over 39.

Wellsboro’s Ty Morral is in a tie for 24th after shooting a 13-over 84.

In the girls Class AA tournament, Lewisburg’s Ava Markunas is in 17th place after one round after posting a 98.

The final round begins this morning at 8:30 in a shotgun format because of expected inclement weather.

• After leading the Lycoming volleyball team’s defense in a 3-0 sweep of Penn State Altoona to ensure the team’s first .500 season since 2015, senior libero Lindsay Beck has earned MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Beck posted 13 digs and didn’t allow a receiving error in the sweep of Penn State Altoona, as the first-year starting libero posted five digs in both the first and second sets, both 25-19 wins.

• Sophomore Andrew Everetts led the Lycoming golf team with a 93 at the par-72, 6,562-yard Lebanon Country Club at the Lebanon Valley College Fall Invitational. Senior Oliver Uy added a 135 for the Warriors.
