Shuler, Maggs win District 2-4 Class AAA doubles title
Williamsport’s Mia Shuler and Kalinid Maggs captured the District 2-4 Class AAA girls tennis doubles championship Wednesday at the Wyoming Valley Indoor Courts in Kingston.
With the win, Shuler and Maggs advance to the state tournament on Friday, Nov. 1, in Hershey.
The Millionaires’ duo defeated Abington Heights’ Clare Della Valle and Lauren Koczwara in the final, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3).
Shuler and Maggs beat Abington Heights’ Rina Hanumali and Sidney Horvath, 6-2, 6-3, in the semifinals and defeated Wallenpaupack’s Becca Cykosky and Tori Weber in the quarterfinals, 6-0, 6-0.
The Millionaires’ double team won their first-round matchup against Wilkes-Barre Area easily, 6-0, 6-0.
Shuler and Maggs are the first Williamsport doubles team to win districts since Amanda Southard and Isabel Bauer in 2015.
