High school roundup: Loyalsock’s Aiden Gair scores 41 in win against Whitehall

In boys basketball Saturday, Loyalsock defeated Whitehall, 83-71. Tournament MVP Aiden Gair scored a team-high 41 points including eight treys. Sean Jensen scored 11 and Idris Ali and Rees Watkins each had eight, Ali and Watkins earned all-tournament team selections.

Cole Johnson had 15 points and James Evans-McQuay and Ahmir Ellzy each scored 10, but Williamsport lost to York, 64-51, in the consolation game of the York Tip-Off Tournament.

Bucktail lost to Northwest, 71-32. Tony Pentz led the Bucks with 10 points as Liam Dwyer added nine. Northwest was led by Matt Saxe’s 23 points as he made six 3s.

Lewisburg defeated Shenandoah Valley, 60-35. Nick Shedleski lead the Green Dragons with a 23-point effort and in total, Lewisburg had eight players score. Joey Martin added eight.

Wellsboro defeated North Penn-Mansfield, 58-54, in the consolation game at the Loyalsock Tip-Off tounrnament. Joe Grab paced the Green Hornets with 25 points adding six rebounds and five assists. Ty Morral and Darryn Callahan each scored nine points. Alex Stein and Curtis Craig had a team-high 12 points for Mansfield, Jacob Evans added 11 and Logan Tokarz had 10.

South Williamsport defeated Montgomery, 55-37. Ethan Laudenslager led the Mounties with 20 points and Lee Habalar added 17. Logan Almeida paced Montgomery with 16 points.

Sullivan County won, 59-45, over Troy in its home tournament. Tournament MVP, Sam Carpenter scored a team-high 18 points and Jesse Williams scored 15.

• In girls basketball, Jade Cordrey scored a team-high 19 points and Alex Snyder added 16 in Hughesville’s 49-25 win against Milton.

Milton was led by Tori Brink’s eight points.

Riley Fry scored 20 points and Faith Persing added 10 to help Montgomery defeated St. John Neumann, 53-34.

North Penn-Liberty lost to Northeast Bradford, 68-12, at the Ryan Ostrom Tournament. Eva Rice and Kiersten Mitstifer each scored five.

Jessica King followed up her triple-double season debut with a double-double as Sullivan County claimed its fourth straight North Penn-Liberty tournament title in a, 62-29, win over Canton. King finished with 23 points and 15 rebounds adding five steals, two blocks, and two assists. Sophia Springman scored a team-high 25 points. Elle Binford led Canton with nine points and Aislyn Wiliams added six.

Williamsport fell to Mifflin County, 60-47, at the Hazleton Tip-off Tournament. Katelyn Wilson led the Millionaires with a team-high 21 points Emily Pardee and Whitney Felix each added five points.

Lizzi Welch and JoAnne McNamara led North Penn-Mansfied to a 44-19 win over Cowanesque Valley for the CV tournament title. Welch scored a team-high 14 points and McNamara added 12. Paisley Nudd scored five points and three girls scored four points for CV.

Bucktail edged out Galeton, 32-30, to win the Galeton tip-off tournament. Myka Poorman scored a team-high 18 points and had three three-pointers. Alli Macensky led Galeton with 10 points and Cara Parsell had nine points and 13 rebounds.

• Canton took second at the Darren Klingerman Invitational tournament at Bloomsburg. Warrior Run finished seventh and South Williamsport placed eighth.

In the championships, Canton had two wrestlers win in Timmy Ward and Garrett Storch. Ward won by decision at 170 pounds, 5-0, as did Storch at 182 (8-3).

Warrior Run’s Kaiden Milheim won at 106 pounds, defeating Troy’s Seth Seymour by decision, 13-3.

Canton’s Hayden Ward took third at 132 pounds with a fall in 1 minute, 59 seconds and Canton’s Derek Atherton-ely won by decision over fellow teammate Chance Deljanovan, 2-1, at 195 pounds. Warrior Run’s Kaden Majcher took third at 113 pounds with a 6-0 decision over Canton’s Isaac Landis.
