Local roundup: Neumann tops EJ boys, 78-56

David Hill scored 21 points and Malaki Parlante added 20 to lift St. John Neumann to a 78-56 win over East Juniata in boys basketball Saturday.

Josiah Reid added 14.

Loyalsock defeated Troy, 90-73. Aiden Gair tallied a team-high 23 points and Rees Watkins had 21. Eli Gair shot two threes and finished with 10 points. Troy’s Ty Barrett scored 44 points.

• Nita Imeri scored nine points to lead Montgomery, but it wasn’t enough as the Red Raiders fell to Millville, 59-36.

Williamsport lost to Linden Hall, 45-35. Katelyn Wilson scored nine points for the Millionaires. Sophia Erb and Kailee Helmrich added seven each.

Eva Rice scored an impressive 31 points and Kiersten Mitstitfer added 19 to propel North Penn-Liberty to a 67-33 win against Williamson.

Prattsburgh defeated Cowanesque Valley, 39-36. Paisley Nudd led the Indians with a 14-point performance.

Jessica King recorded her second triple-double in a week, Samantha Albright produced a double-double and Sullivan County edged rival Benton, 47-45, in a key early-season road game. King also scored a game-high 22 points as the Griffins improved to 4-1 despite playing most of the game without two starters. Albright scored a career-high 14 points.

Julie Anthony and Sydney Bachman combined to score 19 points and drain five 3-pointers, but Bloomsburg broke away in the third quarter and defeated South Williamsport, 52-35. Clare Alexander added five for the Mounties (1-1).

Montoursville fell to Shamokin, 52-20. Madalyn Adams scored a team high nine points and McKenzie Weaver scored five points.

Bella Hitesman recorded her fourth straight double-double as Muncy defeated CMVT, 52-20. Hitesman scored a team-high 15 points and had 14 rebounds. Aleaha Bigelow scored 13 points and had 16 steals for a double-double effort and Avery Bigelow had five points and 10 rebounds.

Jersey Shore used a strong second half to come from behind and defeat Selinsgrove, 43-32. Aubrey Stetts scored a team-high 17 points and Sadie Griswold had 14 to lead the Bulldogs.

Lewisburg lost to Central Columbia, 60-37. Lauren Ball had 16 points for the Blue Jays. The Green Dragons were led by Roz Noone (12).

• In high school wrestling, Montgomery’s Bradley Leon pinned Mount Carmel’s Hunter Minnig in 43 seconds at 220 pounds, but the Red Raiders lost to the Red Tornadoes, 46-24. Montgomery’s Kaiden Drick also won by pin at 160 pounds in 5:50.

Southern Columbia defeated Lewisburg, 55-15. Lewisburg’s Jace Gessner won by decision, 9-8, at 106 pounds.
