ROUNDUP: Central Mountain girls wins 2nd in a row

Quinlynn McCann scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Central Mountain won its second straight game, defeating Milton, 43-36, in girls basketball. The Wildcats snapped a 48-game losing streak Saturday and now are 2-0 for the first time this decade. Avery Baker scored 10 points and added seven rebounds as Central Mountain took the lead for good in the second quarter.

Sophia Springman scored a team-high 15 points and added eight rebounds, but Sullivan County dropped a 41-40 game to Lourdes. Jessica King added 10 points, 13 rebounds and nine steals.

Cassie Gee drilled five 3-pointers and Loyalsock used a 15-point outburst in the first quarter to defeat Mifflinburg, 58-44. Gee scored a game-high 21 points and Summer McNulty added 17 for the Lancers.

Riley Fry dropped a team-high 10 point and grabbed 10 rebounds for Montgomery in a 44-17 win over Troy. Nita Imeri had 11 rebounds to go with her eight point, and Megan Moser had five rebounds and six assists for the Red Raiders.

Lewisburg was held just three points in the opening quarter as Mount Carmel sprinted to a lead it didn’t relinquish in a 61-29 win. Sophie Kilbride led the Green Dragons with 10 points

Claudia Green had 15 points and Julie Anothony added 14 as South used an all-around team effort to down St. John Neumann, 77-8. The Knights were held to just four points in the second and third quarters.

• Montoursville broke open a tied game at the half with a 17-point third quarter and the Warriors opened the season with a 46-30 win over Warrior Run. Montoursville closed the game on a 30-14 run as Dillon Young scoed a game-high 13 points and Josh Burger added 10.

South Williamsport made just 6 of 17 free throws as it lost to Old Forge, 63-51. Nate Persun hit a trio of 3-pointers to scored a team-high 14 points for South Williamsport.

Clayton Poust had a near double-double with eight points and seven assists and Garrett Boyer had 19 points as Hughesville went on the road and beat Troy, 64-40. Hughesville struggled in foul trouble early but was able to hold on to the lead with great defense by Nick Trevouledes and the depth of hughesville’s bench playing tough. Ethan Van Noy had 12 points for Troy and Mason Inch added 10.
