CM wrestling rolls Bald Eagle Area, 44-15
WINGATE — Two perennial powers met Thursday night when Central Mountain visited Bald Eagle Area.
Though the competition was tough throughout, the Wildcats made all the moves when it counted, taking care of the Eagles, 44-15.
“We’ve been waiting for a full team performance even from the guys who cone out and sometimes come out on the short end of the stick. I think tonight we got that ,” said Central Mountain coach Biff Walizer. “Every guy that went out, fought hard the whole time they were out there and I am real proud of their performance tonight.”
Starting tonight at 145, the Eagles’ picked up the first points of the night as Gage McClenahan came right out and took control early, posting a takedown and then a quick 7-2 advantage against Ashton Smith. But McClenahan would turn Smith in his back and pick up the pin at :56.
But then the Wildcats started to take over
At 152 Kaden Falls picked up a major decision over Colton Colmly, after dominating all three periods for the 11-0 victory.
The Wildcats got an easy win at 160 as Lane Porter got his hand raised due to an Eagle forfeit, making it a 10-6 advantage.
170-pounder for Bald Eagle Noah Foltz has a tough bout with Damien Galentine grinding out a hard fought 5-3 victory. Foltz took an early take down and added some back points after taking Galentine down to the mat, he would build up the lead to 5-1 before Galentine would get to as close to 5-3 before the Eagles took home the victory at 170, pulling his team to just a point of Central Mountain.
Central Mountain’s 182 – pounder Caleb Porter dominate early allowing only an escape from Brody Proctor to take a 6-1 victory and add to the Wildcats lead, 13-9.
At 195, Gage Sutliff picked up six more points for the Wildcats as he pinned Matt Knepp at 3:30.
Things continued to click for Central Mountain even into the heavier weights
At 220, Nick Miller posted a decision over David Close 5-2.
Rounding out the heavyweight division was Central Mountain’s 285-pounder Cyrus McCarl taking home major decision Chandler Burns (BEA)12-3.
As the match headed into the lighter weights, Central Mountain notched its way to a 26-9 advantage.
In arguably the match up of the night. CM’s 106-pounder Gino Serafini fell victim to an early take down but recovered and came back to defeat Cole Bainey in a nail biting 3-2 win.
Central Mountain again got an easy win at 113 as Derek Keen won by forfeit.
Bald Eagle’s Cooper Gilham put his team back in the scoring column in a big way pinning Clayton Foster at 2:52.
126 – pounder Braylen Corter got an early takedown and back points for a 5-0 lead over Bald Eagles’ Grace Stem. However, Stem wasn’t ready to take the loss as she bounced back to take a takedown and escape point as well as a late stall point to fall just short 7-4.
At 132, Taylor Weaver pinned Bald Eagle Isaac Packer 1:41 in to all but clinch the victory at 44-15.
Rounding out the night at 138 , Bald Eagles’ Zander Ballock had a strong outing picking up a 5-0 decision over Hayden Walizer rounding out the scoring in the 44-18 Central Mountain victory.
“Central Mountain wrestled well and hats off to them. They have a nice well balanced team. They always do,” said Bald Eagle coach Ron Guenot. “We got outwrestled and we just need to get back in the room Tommorrow and look at it as a wake up call. That’s how we are going to go about it tomorrow and work on the things we need to work on.”
