College roundup: Mader’s 3 lifts Lyco women

Freshman Kenzie Reed drew a double team and threw a cross-court pass to the left side of the court, where a waiting senior Morgan Mader calmly drained a 3-pointer with 34 seconds left to put the Lycoming College women’s basketball team ahead for good in a 53-50 MAC Commonwealth win at Arcadia.

Junior Erica Lutz finished with 12 points and nine rebounds and Mader posted a team-high 13 points, 10 in the fourth quarter, to lead the Warriors. Senior Akilah McFadden, a Lewisburg grad, posted six points, four assists and three steals, Vuz finished with seven points and three steals and Reed posted six points and two assists.

Bucknell defeated Lehigh, 71-50. Abby Kapp had a huge night, hitting six 3-pointers and scoring 23 points for the Bison.

Ellie Mack scored 13 points and Ally Johnson added 10.

Penn College fell to Penn State Abington, 68-53, in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. Loyalsock grad Cassi Kuhn led the Wildcats with 22 points and eight rebounds. Madison Klock added 13 points and Montoursville grad Lydia Albert scored five points.

• Senior Ryan Hollis hit a 3-point dagger at the buzzer to lift the Lycoming College men’s basketball team past Arcadia, 70-68, in overtime.

Freshman Mo Terry drove through traffic with a strong bucket and was fouled with 23 seconds remaining in regulation and hit both free throws to put the Warriors ahead 61-58.

Freshman Dyson Harward finished with a career-high eight made field goals (8 for 15) for an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double to lead the Warriors. Harward and Hollis (15) both were a point shy of tying career-highs.

Penn College used a strong first half to defeat Penn State Abington, 92-78, in North Eastern Athlete Conference play.

Loyalsock grad Ben Sosa was one of three Wildcat players to score at least 20 points as he led the team with 23. Elijah Vazquez scored 22 and Ryan Lockman added 21.

Mansfield fell to East Stroudsburg, 91-54 in PSAC East action. Trevor English dropped 13 points, grabbed six rebounds and snatched two steals to lead the Mounties. Jonathan Ward added eight points and four rebounds and Richard Oppong netted seven points.

• In college wrestling, Penn College finished 0-4 at the Mid-Winter Classic. The Wildcats lost to Johns Hopkins (25-24), McDaniel College (24-22), Gettysburg (25-23) and Muhlenberg (38-15). Ryan Bauer and Colin Jen had pins against Johns Hopkins in a match that went to tiebreaker 3: most points scored in matches ending in decisions or majors.

• Lock Haven swimming finished Day 2 at the Vulcan Invitational hosted by California (Pa.). Kristin Allen finished second in the 100 fly with a time of 1:05:07 and earned a third-place finish in the 100 back with a time of 1:06:08. Madison Griffin placed second in the 100 back (1:06:06).
