Local roundup: Eyer has double-double for Muncy

Ross Eyer had a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double to help Muncy defeat CMVT, 41-26, in boys basketball Wednesday night.

Max Rymsza led Muncy (6-7) with 15 points.

Gerhett Parrish recorded his first career double-double by scoring 15 points, grabbing 10 boards and having three blocks in Sullivan County’s 59-36 win against Montgomery.

Sam Carpenter led the team with 19 points and had seven rebounds and Jalen Thomas had a team-high seven steals.

Aiden Gair scored 21 points and Saraj Ali added 14 as Loyalsock remained undefeated while clinching a share of its fourth straight HAC-II championship.

Steele Evangelisti scored nine points and Clayton Poust eight, but Hughesville was unable to dig out of a 12-point halftime hole at Bloomsburg as the Panthers defeated it, 60-45.

Nate Ewing scored 16 points, dealt six assists and grabbed four rebounds, but Shamokin opened a two-game lead on Jersey Shore in the HAC-I, defeating it, 62-44.

• Jersey Shore scored 14 in the second quarter to take a lead into the half and ended up defeating Montoursville, 56-46, in girls basketball.

Aubrey Stetts led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Madalyn Adams scored 18 for the Warriors and Mackenzie Cohick chipped in 13.

North Penn-Mansfield defeated Canton, 42-22. Joanne McNamara led the Tigers with 12 points. Canton was led by Raeann Roupp’s six.

Molly Ward had 14 rebounds for Canton.

Williamson was held to 10 points as Wellsboro dominated in a 67-10 win in a Northern Tier game.

Cathryn Brought scored 19 points, Bailey Monks added 16 and Emma Coolidge scored 13.

• In high school wrestling, South Williamsport defeated Sugar Valley, 60-12. Kyle Benson picked up a pin in 42 seconds at 285 pounds for the Mounties.

• Junior Christian Simmons scored four points in the final minute, including a fast break layup in the closing seconds to seal a PSAC victory for the Mansfield men’s basketball team, who downed Shepherd, 62-61. Mansfield was led by Jaz Farrell’s 12 points.

• The Mansfield University women’s basketball team led by as much as 14 in the first half, but Shepherd flipped the script in the second, outscoring the Mounties by 18 down the stretch to earn a 67-57 PSAC victory. Paige Whitfield led Mansfield wtih 14 points.

• Lock Haven grad John Adams was named the new president of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders baseball team. Adams graduated from Lock Haven in 2001.

He was the president of the Arena Football League until this past November.
