Aleaha Bigelow is Muncy’s lone senior, so senior night was really her night Saturday.

And Bigelow made sure her night was one to remember.

Bigelow made a game-clinching steal and layup in the final seconds, helping Muncy hold off a furious Montgomery comeback and win, 36-31. Bigelow had a big night, scoring 14 points, making seven steals and grabbing six rebounds. She also drained two free throws with 42 seconds remaining after Montgomery had cut a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit to one.

“I didn’t like having just a three-point lead so I wanted to make it a little bigger and the ball was there so I took it,” Bigelow said. “It was exciting. It was good to get it.”

Muncy (13-7) looked like it had things under control, but Montgomery (11-9) did not back down and Faith Persing’s two free throws made it 32-31 with 94 seconds left.

“It was really nervewracking when they got it to one point, so I’m glad we were able to pull it out,” Bigelow said. “Hopefully that energy we had in the last minute will carry over into our next game.”

Bigelow’s younger sister Avery made five steals and Bell Hitesman grabbed nine rebounds. Mia Edkin had a cluch late basket and Ariana Copeland added six rebounds. Saige Whipple shined off the bench for Montgomery, scoring 11 points. Clara Ulrich also was tough in reserve, pulling down five rebounds and adding three assists. Riley Fry played through illness and delivered seven points and six rebounds.
