College roundup: Lycoming freshman Harward named MAC Rookie of the Year
The top-scoring freshman in the MAC Commonwealth and a school-record number of blocks was more than enough to help Lycoming College freshman Dyson Harward earn the MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year award. Junior Darius Dangerfield earned a spot as a first-team All-MAC Commonwealth selection and Harward was a second-team pick.
Leading a Warrior defense that allows a league-low 70.0 points per game and setting two school records in the process, Harward earns the school’s first MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year award since 2010-11.
Dangerfield is averaging 4.7 assists per game, is ninth in scoring (14.0), 11th in 3-point field goal percentage (.374) and steals (1.4) and is 16th in field goal percentage (.452).
Penn College senior forward Ben Sosa, a Loyalsock grad, was named to the North Eastern Athletic Conference second team. It’s Sosa’s first all-conference selection and he became just the second player in program history to earn All-NEAC honors.
Sosa finished the season averaging 17.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, while starting in all 26 contests for the Wildcats. Sosa, who recorded six double-doubles this season, was seventh in the conference in points per game and eighth in rebounds per game.
