King’s 25 propels Sullivan girls to consolation win

In girls basketball, Jessica King scored a team-high 25 points to help Sullivan County defeat Northeast Bradford, 51-38, in the District 4 Class A consolation game to secure a spot in the state tournament.

The Griffins play either Nativity BVM or Susquehanna next Saturday.

King had a monster game, grabbing 16 rebounds for her 20th double-double this year, and had a team-high five blocks and five steals.

King was the only Sullivan County player in double figures. Samantha Albright added nine points.

• Alex Schweitzer hit the game-winning shot on a 3-pointer with four seconds remaining on an assist from Jalen Thomas and Sullivan County defeated North Penn-Liberty, 42-42, in the District 4 Class A consolation game in boys basketball.

Sam Carpenter led the Griffins (19-6) with 18 points and Justin Metzger added 11.

Jesse Williams led Sullivan County with 15 rebounds.
