Local roundup: Bucknell men’s basketball falls, 69-60, at Lehigh

Bucknell saw its two-game winning streak snapped, despite a 20-point performance from Jimmy Sotos as the Bison fell to Lehigh, 69-60, on Sunday afternoon.

Sotos recorded his fifth 20-point game of the season and sixth in his career. He also logged five rebounds and three assists. Kahliel Spear led the Bison with six rebounds to go with six points off the bench.

Walter Ellis and Andrew Funk scored 10 points each for Bucknell, which fell to 11-18 overall and 7-9 in the Patriot League and a tie for sixth place with Navy and Loyola.

Bucknell shot just 39.3 percent overall while hitting 7 of 32 from 3-point territory. Meanwhile, Lehigh shot 46 percent.

Karnik and Lynch both scored 17 for the Mountain Hawks.

• In college wrestling, 125-pounder Matt Maloney and 133-pounder Cole Manley each went 2-1 as the Lock Haven wrestling team hosted its annual Mat-Town Open II Tournament. Kollin Myers was third at 149-pounds and Jonathan Ross placed fourth at 157-pounds.

Penn College took nine wrestlers to the Northeast Futures Invitational at Muhlenberg. Four Wildcat wrestlers earned a victory in final tune-up before the regional tournament. Jason Penton picked up two wins at 165-pounds with a 5-1 win in the first round and 14-10 decision in the quarterfinals, Jalen Edwards also picked up two wins with a pin in 2:21 and a 6-4 decision. Matthew Carpenter (141) and Colin Browne (174) each picked up one win with Browne using a third period takedown to force overtime and won, 9-7. Carpenter picked up an 8-5 decision in the second round of consolations.

• In college softball, Mansfield softball was swept by University of Charleston, 6-3, and Glenville State College, 10-3, at the Glenville State College tournament.

In game one, after a second inning run by Charleston, Mansfield broke out for a 3-1 lead in the top of the third after a two RBI single from Joelle Snyder and a RBI double from Cassidy Smith. Charleston responded with a breakout inning of their own in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four runs on five hits (13 total) to move out to a 5-3 lead.

The Mounties’ offense was led by Alli McGovern, who was 2-for-4 with a run and Snyder who had two RBIs and a run scored.

Against Glenville State, McGovern led the Mounties at the plate with two hits in four at bats along with one run. Hein added her first multi-hit outing of the year.
