Golf Tip: Find a key to start your takeaway

Some golfers stand over the ball too long before executing the backswing. The longer a golfer takes to start the takeaway, the tenser the muscles become.

It’s as if they are scared to take the club back. You can see the arms and hands tense up.

The best way to create a relaxed swing is to find a key in which triggers your takeaway. I teach my students to place the right hand on the club last and use that as a signal to start the backswing.

Place the right hand on precisely the way it hangs from the shoulder, no adjustments needed. Remember to drop the right shoulder and allow the spine to lean to the right as the right hand is gently married to the left hand on the club.

Don’t forget to enjoy this great game called golf.
