Golf tip of the week: One of the biggest myths in golf

PHOTO PROVIDED There should space between the right elbow and ribcage, with the tip of the elbow pointing to the ground

One of the biggest myths in golf is keeping the right elbow tight against the side on the backswing. Keeping the right elbow against the side will restrict the swing, cause a shank and flatten the swing arc.

To get the proper feel and arm position, take the club back with the right hand as if you were going to or hit a tennis ball with a racket. Then reach back with the left hand and grip the club. The right elbow should be away from the body, with the tip of the elbow pointing to the ground.

The right elbow should be in a position similar to a waiter holding a serving tray.

Don’t forget to enjoy this great game called golf.
