Rain prevented Clinton County Motor Speedway from racing last week
MILL HALL – Heavy rains forced speedway officials at Clinton County Speedway to cancel their anticipated season opener this past weekend, which was scheduled to start Friday. As a result, the speedway plans to open Friday for the first time in 2020.
The RaceSaver sprint cars will be the featured event. Several teams have expressed their intent to compete on the 3/8th mile oval. The race will be sanctioned by the Laurel Highlands RaceSaver Sprint Series, however several drivers from the PA Sprint Series and the Allegheny Sprint Series plan to attend.
Among the drivers who are planning on competing are Lock Haven’s Jeffrey Weaver, the father-son team of Dale and Dakota Schweikart (Linden), Williamsport’s Tyler Cochran, Williamsport rookie driver Matt Tebbs, Scott Lutz (Jonestown), Turbotville’s Josh Beaver and rookie Michael Petcock (Bloomsburg).
Sprint cars, pro stocks, 600 micro sprints, 270 micro sprints and four cylinders will be in competition as part of the five-division racing program, set for 7:30 p.m..
Spectators will not be required to wear masks, though they are encouraged. Fans are also encouraged to practice social distancing and follow CDC guildeines.
