Hughesville student-athlete in self-quarantine due to possible COVID-19 exposure
A student-athlete on Hughesville’s football team came in contact with someone that ultimately tested positive for COVID-19 recently. One of the parents of the child informed the school district.
According to Hughesville superintendent Michael Pawlik, the district “immediately implemented its protocols as outlined in its Athletic Return to Play Plan.”
That means that the student and anyone he had contact with during the summer conditioning were notified.
“Following the district’s protocols, the student will be tested for COVID-19 and those that had been in contact will self-quarantine until the results are obtained,” Pawlik said.
In order for schools to start summer workouts for fall athletics, all school districts must have Return to Play guidelines. It includes outlines on what to do if a player or coach comes in contact with someone who was exposed to COVID-19.
