Golf tip of the week: 3 most asked questions in golf

PHOTO PROVIDED Hands hang naturally at the address position, the club’s length determines how far you stand from the ball.

I have given thousands of lessons and hundreds of lectures and the three most questions always asked are the following.

How far should you stand from the ball?

The hands hang down at the address position. That applies to all clubs as the club length determines the distance you stand from the ball. Never stretch your arms out. The hands should be at their lowest point.

Where should you play the ball in your stance?

Five iron through the wedges — place the ball in the center of your stance.

Four iron through the driver — play the ball off your left heel (right heel for the left-handed golfers).

How wide should your stance be?

Your stance should be wide enough to create a stable foundation in which to swing on.

Start out with the feet approximately shoulders width and adjust them a little wider for the longer clubs.

Adjust your stance according to your physical build, height, and athletic ability. Take a few practice swings until you feel balanced and comfortable when you swing.

Don’t forget to enjoy this great game called golf.
