ROUNDUP: Swinehart helps South top Montgomery

Hayden Swinehart scored six goals Wednesday afternoon and added an assist as South Williamsport defeated Montgomery, 13-0, and won its second straight to open the season. Quaid Molino recorded a hat trick and had four assists while freshman Kayvan Shams scored twice.

Sullivan County scored an eqaulizer goal in the 75th minute to lift the Griffins to a tie with Muncy, 1-1. The Indians outshot Sullivan, 13-10, but the Griffins had a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Loyalsock blanked Central Columbia, 3-0. The Lancers’ Brady Dowell scored twice and Matt O’Malley added a goal and assist. Liam Bastian added an assist as well.

• Shyanne Klemick scored twice and Lily Saul produced a goal and assist as the Montoursville girls soccer team defeated Jersey Shore, 4-0. Cassady wood also scored for the Warriors who took a 2-0 with goals in the final two minutes of the first half.

Wellsboro and Athens tied in double overtime, 1-1. Athens took a 1-0 lead into the half before the Green Hornets’ Cara Tennis scored early in the second half to tie it.

Kenna Ammar-Khodja scored the game’s only goal early in the second half to help Hughesville secure a 1-0 win against Danville. The Spartans’ defense didn’t allow any shots and Lucy Myers was in goal for the shutout.

• Central Mountain won five straight-set matches as it continued its excellent season and blanked Jersey Shore, 5-0. Caitlyn Dale and Ella Talbot won a first-set tiebreaker (7-4) in the day’s most exciting match. Carolina Carpenetti, Olivia Anastos and Kati Kwiatek were victorious in singles competion.

• Montoursville’s golf team won for the second time in two days, defeating Selinsgrove 168-183 at the Williamsport Country Club. Warrior teammates Peyton Mussina and Cameron Francis built on their strong seasons, each shooting a 39. Lauren Marks also shot well, scoring a 43 and Gage Wheeland shot a 47.

Williamsport played one of its best matches of the season, dropping a 164-173 decision against Central Mountain at the White Deer Golf Course. The Millionaires produced their lowest score and all four golfers shot 46 or lower. Kydreece Burks finished in third with a 40, finishing just a stroke behind Central Mountain winners Griffin Walizer and Gunner Redmond. Ethan Douglas shot a 41 for Williamsport as did Jason Floruss for Central Mountain.

• Williamsport swept Sugar Valley in a girls volleyball match, winning 25-18, 26-24 and 25-12 in a 3-0 victory. Emma Dickey led the Millionaires with 19 points and Myla Kelley added 14. Johanna Baker posted 18 assists for Williamsport to go with her 10 points.
