Canton to host Muncy on Saturday as D4 football playoffs announced

Canton and Muncy will meet for the third consecutive season for the District 4 Class A championship at Miller A. Moyer Field. The game was one of seven postseason games announced by District 4 on Sunday.

Canton and Muncy have just one combined loss and that loss was a 19-0 victory for the Warriors over the Indians in Week 6 of the regular season. Muncy rebounded from the loss Friday night and posted a 42-0 win over Wyalusing. Muncy was missing 10 players from its first meeting with Canton as players quarantined because of potential COVID-19 exposure.

“Our kids are pumped. We can’t wait to go back up there and play them again,” Muncy coach Sean Tetreault said following Friday’s win over Wyalusing. “Canton’s a very good ballclub. So even though our guys are back, we’re going to have to play a great game and come ready and prepared for a great district final.”

The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

District scheduled Classes AA and AAAA to play their semifinal games Friday night at 7 p.m. In AA, top-seeded Southern Columbia hosts Line Mountain and No. 2 seed Troy hosts South Williamsport. In AAAA Shamokin travels to Selinsgrove and Jersey Shore plays Mifflinburg at a site to be determined.

The Class AAA semifinals will be Saturday at 1 p.m. with top-seeded Montoursville hosting Loyalsock and second-seeded Danville hosting Athens. Montoursville beat Loyalsock, 23-12, two weeks ago.
