Local roundup: Warrior Run, Shore girls battle to scoreless double overtime tie

Warrior Run and Jersey Shore battled to a scoreless double overtime draw. The Defenders out-shot Jersey Shore, 7-2.

East Juniata’s Kiersten Fogle scored twice and Leah Samker had a goal and assist as East Juniata blanked South Williamsport, 4-0, to improve to 11-1. The Mounties fall to 9-3 with the loss. Laila Shams had six saves.

Hughesville lost to Bloomsburg, 4-0, as Lucy Myers recorded three saves for the Spartans. Paige Temple scored twice for the Panthers.

Northeast Bradford defeated North Penn-Mansfield, 8-2. Tiwrney Patterson had 21 saves for N.P.-Mansfield and Kierstin Mitstifer scored twice.

In boys soccer, Hughesville defeated Bloomsburg, 5-2. Nick Trevouledes had a hat trick and added two assists for the Spartans. Aaron Girardi had two goals and an assist.

Williamsport beat Milton, 5-1, as Hemberth Pena-Vasquez and Jimmy Pombor each had two goals and two assists. Evan Yoder scored for the Black Panthers.

Anthony Bhangdia had a hat trick and Ben Liscum dished out four assists in Lewisburg’s 7-1 win over Selinsrove. The Seals fired six shots, the most any team has had against Lewisburg so far this year. Tony Burns recorded five saves as Lewisburg improved to 14-0.

Midd-West defeated Montoursville in a rout, 8-1. The Warriors’ only goal came from Sean Ravert in the 77th minute off an assist by Dominick Pulizzi. Zach Baylor had 16 saves for Montoursville.

Wellsboro defeated Towanda, 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-11) in girls volleyball. Emma Owlett led the Green Hornets with eight kills and Jordan Judlin had 15 assists and eight digs. Kathryn Burnett had a team-high 17 digs and Bre Kemp led Wellsboro with 22 points.

Williamsport beat Juniata, 3-1 (25-13, 26-24, 25-27, 25-6). Myla Kelley led the Millionaires with 25 points and added 25 digs. Elise Berthold had a team-high 15 kills and Emma Dickey led the Millionaires with 28 digs.

In boys cross country, Cowanesque Valley’s Seth Neal placed third at the 2020 NTL Coaches Invitational at Northeast Bradford with a time of 17 minutes, 16.70 seconds. Wyalusing’s Zion Laudermilch and Justin Hiduk placed first and second, respectively. Cowanesque Valley’s Owen Cummings placed fifth (17:51.10).

On the girls side, Wellsboro’s Julia DeCamp was the area’s highest-placing runner with a sixth-place finish in 22:27.30. She was the only area runner to finish in the top 10.

Lewisburg blanked Midd-West in field hockey, 3-0. Rylee Dyroff and Kara Koch both had a goal and assist. Kerstin Koons had tow saves as Lewisburg limited Midd-West’s offensive attack.
