Local roundup: Williamsport girls blank Hughesville

Williamsport’s Mia Clark scored early in the second half to give the Millionaires a 1-0 win over Hughesville in girls soccer. Clark scored with an assist from Kailee Helmrich and Williamsport won despite being outshot, 11-6.

Montoursville broke out to a three-goal lead as the Warriors cruised to a 4-2 win over Southern Columbia. Jillian Irion scored a pair of goals for Montoursville, and Mackenzie Cohick and Bryn Jacopetti each added a goal.

After a five-day hiatus from playing, Milton beat Danville, 3-2. Janae Bergey scored two goals and dished out an assist. Katy Weaver also scored for the Black Panthers.

• In boys soccer, Sullivan County beat Millville in a double overtime thriller, 2-1, thanks to a Jalen Thomas goal with four minutes remaining.

Danville scored a goal right before halftime and didn’t allow Milton to score an equalizer in a 1-0 win.

Will Poirier scored three goals and Owen Richardson added two as Wellsboro beat NEB, 8-0.

Hayden Swinehart scored off an assist from Quaid Molino midway through the second half to break a tie and give South Williamsport a 2-1 win over Benton.

Taylor Nelson scored with a minute remaining in the game to give North Penn-Liberty a come-from-behind win over Williamson, 3-2.

Lewisburg scored eight first-half goals, including four in a four-minute stretch, as the Green Dragons pummeled Central Columbia, 11-0.

Anthony Bhangdia had a hat tric kand Ben Liscum had two goals and two assists.

• Lewisburg had goals from three players as it posted a 3-0 field hockey win over Midd-West.

• Hughesville took the top four spots with Hunter Foust posting a winning time of 16 minutes, 32 seconds as the Spartans beat Loyalsock, 17-44, in boys cross country.

• Loyalsock’s Megan Tredinnick took the win in 22:13 in a girls cross country race with Hughesville.

• Galeton took a 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-9) win over St. Mary’s in volleyball. Lauren Sauley helped Galeton to the win with six kills, six assist and seven digs.
