Golf tip of the week: Tailor your angle to match swing
The shaft position at address is determined by a golfer’s wrists position at impact. For example, if a golfer’s wrists break down at impact — known as scooping — the shaft should point more toward the target at setup than the golfer who has later release.
Scooping causes the clubhead to get to the impact zone too early, increasing the loft.
Allowing the shaft to point toward the left pocket when addressing the ball (right pocket for the left-hand golfer) delays the clubhead, giving the shaft time to respond more appropriately.
If a golfer has a late release, the grip should point more to the golfer’s belt buckle or just its left (right of the belt buckle for the left-hand golfer).
Don’t forget to enjoy this great game called golf.
