Montoursville girls win 2nd game in less than 24 hours

Just 16 hours after winning a double overtime thriller against Hughesville, Montoursville continued its late-season surge and had four players reach double figures in a 52-41 win against Warrior Run. The Warriors made 26 foul shots and allowed just nine first-half points. MacKenzie Weaver scored 14 points, Mackenzie Cochick 13, Alaina Marchioni 11 and Maddie Adams 10. Gracy Beachel scored a game-high 21 points for Warrior Run.

Alex Chilson scored 11 points and Sarina Beiter added 8, but Williamsport fell behind early and could not rally in a 61-35 loss at Bishop McDevitt.

Lewisburg defeated Danville, 43-27, in girls basketball. Roz Noone had a strong game for the Green Dragons with a 15-point performance. Hope Drumm, Lauren Gross and Sophie Kilbride all chipped in six points each.

In addition to her six points, Kilbride added four steals, four assists and six rebounds. Regan Llanso led the team with 10 rebounds.

Milton allowed just 12 points for a second straight night, building a 30-point halftime lead and defeating Montgomery, 35-12. Kiersten Stork scored a game-high 11 points for Milton (6-8).

Josh Burger picked up and offensive rebound and hit a buzzer-beating putback as Montoursville edged Central Mountain, 51-50 in dramatic fashion. Central Mountain had rallied from a four-point fourth-quarter deficit before Burger’s heroics. Landon Reeder scored 13 points and Dillon Young 11 for Montoursville (12-4) which won its third straight. Jack Hanna had a game-high 19 for Central Mountain and Trevor Adair added 16.

Canton played strong defense against 10-win Wyalusing in a 40-22 loss. Aislyn Williams and Courtney Weiskopff each scored five points for the Warriors.

Isaiah Niemczyk erupted for a career-high 33 points and Canton scored 47 second-half points as it won at North Penn-Mansfield, 85-72. Cooper Kitchen hit four 3-pointers and also reached a career-high, scoring 21 points. Caiden Williams (13) and Cameron Bellows (10) also reached double figures. Curtis Craig scored a season-high 22 points for North Penn-Mansfield with Brock Burleigh (16) and Karson Dominick (15) combining for 31 points.

North Penn-Liberty took a big step toward securing a second straight NTL-II championship, routing current District 4 Class AA top seed Wyalusing, 70-45. NP-Liberty (10-1) made six of its eight 3-pointers during a blistering first quarter in which it outscored the Rams, 32-6. Koleton Roupp hit four treys and scored 12 points while Noah Spencer hit three from behind the arc, scoring 18 points, grabbing seven rebounds and adding seven assists. Brandon Thompson scored a game-high 20 points while pulling down six rebounds and Colton Litzleman had nine points, six rebounds and three assists.

Logan Almeida reached a career-high in points for a second time in five days, scoring 32 points, but Montgomery dropped a 71-70 heartbreaker at Northumberland Christian. Almeida drained five 3-pointers and Gavin Moore matched his career-high, scoring 15 points for a second straight game. David King scored 25 for Northumberland Christian.

Ethan Hartman scored 23 points and Warrior Run erased a five-point halftime deficit as it completed a season sweep of rival Milton, winning 49-43 on the road. Mason Sheesley scored a career-high 15 points and hit five 3-pointers. Hartman topped 20 points for a fourth straight game. Jace Brandt scored 15 points for Milton and Dillon Guinn-Bailey added 13.
