Penn State women fall to Iowa, 96-78

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Penn State women’s basketball team tied the program’s single-game record with 14 made three-pointers, but Iowa shot the lights out in the second half to claim a 96-78 victory in Big Ten action at Carver-Hawkeye Arena Thursday.

Ten of Penn State’s 14 3-pointers came in the first half, but the tale of two halves was the opposite in the second as it was Iowa who went off for 11 treys in the term to come back for the victory.

Freshman Maddie Burke led Penn State with 20 points behind six made 3-pointers, while also adding eight rebounds. Sophomore Anna Camden finished with a career-best 18 points in addition to her seven rebounds. Senior Niya Beverley and sophomore Shay Hagans added 13 points apiece.

Penn State got off to a hot start, racing out to an 11-2 lead just 2:33 into the game thanks to baskets from four different Nittany Lions that forced an Iowa timeout.
