Local roundup: Montoursville girls fall to Central Columbia

Montoursville fell to Central Columbia, 59-33, Thursday night in the District 4 Class AAAA playoffs.

Mackenzie Cohick scored 13 for the Warriors

Lewisburg held off Midd-West in the second half to defeat the Mustangs, 40-34. Roz Noone scored 15 for Lewisburg, and Sophie Kilbride and Hope Drumm both added seven.

Nick Trevouledes made a last-second steal and found Cam Fetterman for the game-winning shot with two seconds remaining as Hughesville closed its season in thrilling fashion, defeating Northumberland Christian on the road, 46-44. The Spartans trailed by three with 20 seconds remaining before Dylan Bieber hit a game-tying 3-pointer and set the stage for Trevouledes and Fetterman to combine on the game-winning play. Bieber scored 14 points and drained four 3-pointers while Trevouledes produced 11 and Fetterman 8 off the bench. Hughesville had no seniors and encountered injuries throughout the season but won four of its final six games.

Senior Erica Lutz had 13 points and nine rebounds and sophomore Emily Zoscin added eight points and four rebounds, but the Lycoming women’s basketball team fell to Arcadia University, 56-47, in MAC Freedom action at Alumni Gymnasium.

Junior Allison Wagner posted seven points, three assists and five rebounds and freshmen Emily Lockard and Allison Butler each had five points.

In men’s basketball, sophomore Dyson Harward scored a team-high 19 points and collected a game-best 10 rebounds to notch his first double-double of the season and push Lycoming to a 72-68 win in MAC Freedom action.

Three other Warriors (3-0) dropped double digits in the points column, as freshman Brendan Blackson and sophomores DeAundre Manuel and Mo Terry added 11 apiece for Lycoming, which shot 37% (21-for-57) from the field.

Harward finished 5-of-9 from the field and is now shooting 57% (12-for-21) on the season. His double-double performance was the seventh of his young career.
